The second edition of Halda Jazz Festival will take place on 19th and 20th of June in Bogatynia Community Centre. We will jazz around a bit longer this year, forasmuch it will last two days in a row. From among a great number of jazz stars, we will have an opportunity to see: International Jazz Quartet with: Rick Margitza (sax) - student of the brilliant Micheal Brecker, Piotr Wojtasik (trumpet) - there is no need to talk about him too much, for he is one of the most remarkable figures on the Polish jazz scene, Sławomir Kurkiewicz (bass) - graduate of Music Academy in Katowice, Wolfgang Reisinger (drums) - extraordinary drummer from Austria.

Another group which will perform, to our pleasure, is Susan Weinert &Zbigniew Jakubek Groove Ensemble staffed by: Susan Weinert (guitar) - for many years, she has been cooperating with Zbigniew Jakubek (piano) - the V.I.P. within the polish jazz music industry, Martin Weinert (bass) - extremely groovy and expressive bass player, Susan's husband, and last but not least - Artur Lipiński (drums) who rhythmically completes the Ensemble. Apart from all the great artists already mentioned, we will see Eryk Kulm Quartet equipped with: Eryk Kulm (drums) - outstanding drummer who graduated the Berklee School of Music, Longineu Parsons (trumpet) - fascinating musical personality, an artist who has played and still plays with the jazz-greatest all around the world, Paweł Tomaszewski (piano) - lecturer at Jazz Institute in Katowice Music Academy, laureate of many prizes, Andrzej Zielak (bass) - graduate of Music Academy in Katowice. Naturally, we will not be threatened by a scarcity of homeborn musicians and "The Globetrotters", initiated by Brnard Maseli (vibraphone) with Jerzy Główczewski (sax), Kuba Badach (vocal), and Thomas Sanchez (percussion), will prove that right.

Krzysztof Witkowski is the producer and originator of the event and he is an inexorable propagator of jazz culture in the region. This years' festival will be adorned by an exhibition of Marek Rokoszewski's photo gallery. He is the laureate of Jazz Photo'81, and presently is the court photographer in Varsovian "Tygmont".

As a special guest during Halda Jazz we will see the famous Marcin Kydrynski, about whom there is no need to rabbit on. However, those who have not had a chance to familiarize with him, we send back to his radio auditions "Siesta" transmitted every Sunday.
